If you're not thoroughly familiar with Bubba by now...you should be. This book collects all the `first' year Bubba short stories, so you may be buying some twice. More than makes up for it by the convenience of having them all in one book. I hope Mr Hartness continues this method, since there are a *lot* of Bubba shorts and it's almost impossible to keep them all straight...especially as the numbering is sporadic, at best.As for Bubba himself...he's a monster hunter who likes beer, big guns, big boobs, big trucks, strip clubs, and killing monsters. Not swearing his preferences are in *exactly* that order, but probably comes close.He's a lot of fun. Give him a shot...and a beer chaser.
I don't get too hung up on a few typos, but if you do, this isn't the book for you. I'm smart enough to add the missing letter here and there and roll on without skipping a beat. Storytelling is what I focus on, and this is enjoyable. It's not laugh out loud funny like some reviews say, but I did crack a smile quite often. You can't help but root for Bubba! Stereotypes embraced? Yep! Tongue in cheek humor? Yep! Interesting characters and monsters? Check! As I said, Fun! Going to download book 2. (Hope this helps you get another unicorn!)
short-stories, supernatural, action-adventure, just-too-funny -----This collection of Bubba short stories highlights the most laugh out loud characters out to eliminate the bad guy supernaturals in the American South. Kind of a parody/farce/satire that is populated by creatures you know from old and recent tales, but meant for fun. Loved it like all of Hartness' books!I got Whispersync, and Andrew McFerrin seems to enjoy narrating it without breaking down and cackling.
I bought the audio version of this book and loved every minute of it characters were well developed the story moved at a strady pace without a lot of filler. the book is in the sci-fi genre with a humours twist. the narrator was great with all the characters of the story and made them believable. I don't think the book would have come across the same without the narration. A truely delightful book
This is book one of the Bubba collection of short stories and it was awesome! How can you get any better than a redneck monster hunter working for the Catholic church? Bubba and Skeeter remind me of boys I grew up with and I love Agent Amy. This is a nice funny, down home take on the monster genre and I absolutely loved this book. Can't wait to finish book two!
When i first started reading this i was a bit annoyed at the main characters’ Seemingly Redneck demeaner. However, after a few pages, i found it very very laugh out loud funny. I thoroughly enjoyed the break from reality and could not put it down. I wish i had more of him to read. Was a lot of fun and read very well!
I just kind of randomly starting reading this one day and really just fell in love with Bubba. He’s loud, big, drives a big truck, carries and shoots big guns and kills monsters who need to be killed. He also has a heart of gold and would give his life for the people he loves. A lot of action, a lot of humor, and a lot of monsters. I can’t get enough of the Bubba stories.
