About the Author
Dr. Katherine Coder is a transpersonal psychologist, guide, and teacher. She works through elemental medicine, one-on-one meetings, and group trainings and ceremonies. Katherine invites people to realize and express their full humanness - to themselves, in relationship, and in community. Her specialties include trauma resolution, visionary plant medicine integration work, deep feminine cultivation, ceremony, and individual client work. Her transformative work connects body, mind, and Spirit to allow people to integrate at a profound level and live from true essence. Katherine comes to her specialization of visionary plant medicine integration work through her studies in transpersonal psychology, her own personal exploration of visionary plant practice for healing, and her service as a visionary plant medicine guide. Along her path, she worked with ayahuasca, psilocybin mushrooms, kambo, huachuma, tobacco, and iboga through medicine holders from Colombia, Ecuador, Gabon, and Peru among other places. After her ceremonies with iboga, she felt that she had found the early trauma that her deeper self was searching for and she began to bring her visionary plant work to a close and start down the long road of integration. She currently practices complete sobriety from all substance use, including alcohol, and supports others through the process of integration. Amazing! Very helpful and mindful guiding book for those who work with a plant.Must read before or after the ceremony
I appreciated the intelligent and no nonsense approach of the author, whom one can tell is quite experienced in their own personal development and self awareness as well as with assisting others in their own search for healing and wellbeing. The information is provided in a very useful and practical way and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is interested in pursuing this path of self realisation.
After the Ceremony Ends is a thoughtful and much needed addition to the expanding literature on plant medicine. The whole concept of integration is often neglected, and the subtle and not so subtle energetic consequences of continuing to work with plant medicines without sufficient integration is rarely talked about. Katherine Coder explains in a clear and accessible manner the need to fully integrate the profound shifts in consciousness that can occur during a ceremony or short series of ceremonies, prior to working with sacred plants again. For instance, deep traumas can be brought to light from the unconscious in the few short hours of a single ceremony, yet it can also take months or even years for a person to then face and deal with the subsequent release of energy from the psyche and work through associated memories and emotions. Someone can, of course, receive a miraculous healing and not need to undergo a therapeutic process afterwards, but for many, if not for the majority of people who use sacred plants, working with an appropriate therapist or counsellor can help ensure the insights and gifts gained during their ceremonial work are lived out fully in their day to day life.Only then can the inner shifts of ceremony become reflected in the outer environment of the participant, and so a more fulfilling and harmonious life results. When it comes to sacred plants, the hard work usually begins when the ceremony ends. This book lives up to its title, and should be required reading for anyone working plant medicines or considering doing so. Highly recommended.
After the Ceremony Ends came to me at a time when I was ending a year of working with plant medicines. When I first started drinking the medicine I wasn't able to form close relationships in which I could ask for help from the medicine carriers or people in the community. I had very little understanding of what it meant to do the work post ceremony. There isn't always an availability to sit with the medicine carrier let alone speak the same language as the shamans. This book has been a helpful tool in understanding how to process the information that I was gifted during ceremony. When I meet with people who are considering drinking plant medicines I always share the importance of prepartion but most importantly to me the integration post ceremony. This is something that was not stressed in my time with sitting with sacred plant medicine. I could relate deeply with Katherine's experiences and felt connected to her process. I highly recommend this book for plant medicine users before or after ceremonies.
Katherine, the author of this book, is incredibly knowledgable in this realm of plant medicine. I feel fortunate enough to say that I have had experiences that confirm everything I read in this book! It's simple and easy to understand. If you're looking to explore the plant medicine world, or already have, this book is a quick read so I'd recommend picking it up now! It's also helpful to understand the tools in the book to share with friends as this is helpful information for all the seekers! Love love love this book! I really believe it's a must read.
