The description for this workbook was rather vague, but this is nothing more that a collection of worksheets, offering no direction. There are NO instructions included with the pages. It is important that anyone considering this workbook know that it will only provide practice, which is fine, but I could have printed any number of worksheets off of the internet for free for practice. Disappointing, considering it was Sylvan. Bottom line - it is a good collection of worksheets, but the description needs to be clearer as to what's inside the book so the buyer can make more informed choices.
I have used this with older students that have disabilities that are often not exposed to a wide range of math skills beyond basic counting, calculations, basic clock reading, and basic money skills. This whole series is an amazing tool to help them get the spectrum of math skills with a beautifully colorful presentation and an absolutely elegant progression of exercises meant to train any students' mind to gain all the math skills at a conceptual level. The kids love it! kids working with other materials beg and pester me to have a Sylvan Book. Students don't want to go out and do other activities because they so enjoy working with their math book! I recommend this book for any person learning this level of math.
THANK YOU! I was nervous about purchasing this math workbook because, let's face it, choosing a great homeschool math curriculum without needing 20 supplements is hard! These books are colorful, engaging, and my kids love them. We only supplement with Prodigy Math (love it!) and they reinforce their new skills through IXL. That's it! We'll be sticking with Sylvan, definitely.
My son really enjoys these books, but we have noticed a couple issues. Like some of the pictures are so small we have to use our cellphone to zoom in to see which coin it is..
I love the way this math book is broken into 3 sections for learning, fun, and practical application. It is simple to use, easy to understand, and can be fun if your child is inclined to enjoy school. (My kids tend to see math as some sort of torture perpetuated upon them by a cruel and unfeeling adult world, lol.)
Works wonders for my asd/adhd son. It's pages are simple and clear, easy to focus on and understand. If you need something with a lot of direction this isn't it. But it does have some basic instructions in each new section. We love it.
Great book to keep your child sharp on math during the summer. Bought for the summer between 4th and 5th grade and my daughter did a few pages every day.
I bought the 5th and 1st grade Super Math for both my grandchildren. I find these books provide excellent material but need directions to do problems. I would prefer the answer key to be placed at the end of the book.
