It amazes me how quickly someone's life can change in the blink of an eye into utter darkness and despair for doing nothing but being decent towards another human being....this book helped me to realize and remember never to judge another person's situation because you never know.......that could be your situation someday.....I'm also amazed of the actions of our government employees in our jail systems how they are able to abuse their power and get away with it.....very sad and disappointing. This is truly a book with reading!
The book was read and the review is by my Wife Esther.I just finished reading the book that I purchased from Amazon Kindle and would recommend it to anyone interested in what could happen to you if someone wanted to "get even" by using the Court system. How fair is the Judge and how good is your attorney?I feel bad if someone is not guilty but the Court says they are guilty and the family (Mother, Father, Wife, Kids), relatives, neighbors, friends, people at work, etc. must suffer from the results. You may lose your job and not find another one. You may have a record for the rest of your life. The out of pocket cost for you and your family could be a hardship for a long time.The book is food for thought and you will want to read it to the finish.
There used to be a saying that went the American Justice systems, for all its flaws, is the best in the world. This story is a brutally stark reminder that this is not the case. Through years of apathy, graft, and poor oversight, the American Justice System has become a shadow of itself, with many crying out against it, but the status quo staying just that. This story represents a single example of the over all national problem. Actually, it touches on two HUGE problems...the flawed Judicial system as well as a hugely flawed Sex Offender Registry...and follows the author's nightmarish introduction to what has always been beneath the surface, always out of focus. It is well written and very human. I deduct a star only for not picking either (or both) problem and more properly supplying facts and figures to illustrate just how bad the problem(s) have become. An engaging read, highly recommended.
This book is a must read for every male in this country. I read it in 2 days and I found it to be a very accurate story of how our judicial system really works.Easy read, the chapters are short and to the point. It shows how you are guilty until proven innocent and even if you are innocent their is no guarantee that you will go free. It is a false sense of security we have about the system. It is not always just, or fair.There is such a hysteria in this country about sexual crimes that no one can get a fair trial. Once convicted you are marked for life and treated like a lepre.I urge you to get this book, you will be glad you did.A real eye opener! You could be next!
Shaun Webb is an excellent writer who captivates our attention. His writing style pulls us into his story and has us turning the pages faster and faster. There is a major lesson to be learned through this particular story. Are any of us immune to the justice system? Do we really own our own personal freedom or can our freedom be taken away, in the blink of an eye, and our lives turned upside down just because someone else desires attention or isn't getting what they want? Aren't we all supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, beyond a shadow of a doubt, or are the words of a lier more potent to the justice system then our own personal words of truth? The main characters of this story, names changed to protect the innocent and guilty alike, are people just like you and me; every day people who are living in your own neighborhood. Who can you trust? Who can't you trust? The fact that the beginning of this story took place on holy ground, a safe place, at a local private school, a place most of us would trust makes this story even more interesting. Are we safe anywhere? Shaun did an excellent job in writing this important story about how someone can be tried as a sex-offender, judged as a sex-offender, treated as a sex-offender and even when eventually, after much pain and suffering is found to be innocent and still has to live his life in question. Our laws need to be changed to protect the innocent! We must not assume, right off the bat, that if someone is proclaimed as a sex-offender that he really is. Good Job Shaun Webb! You did an excellent job telling this story. This is a topic that most Authors would shy away from, but you were brave enough to bring this important story to our attention. I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires to know the truth and desires to help change our outdated ways of viewing these types of situations. I can only wonder about how many innocent people are sitting in our prisons today, doing hard time, for a crime they have not committed.
